WINKY D COKE STUDIO UPDATE

Winky D delivered two great songs — Desculpa — a cover originally done by Messias and Higher — a collaboration with the Mozambican muso. Winky D and Messias’ was produced by Nigerian GospelOnDaBeatz. On both songs Winky D exalted himself with a flawless delivery singing on key much to the delight of fans. The Disappear singer also appealed to a crossover audience riding on his collaboration with Messias who performed in Portuguese. Winky D aka Gafa would switch from English to Shona and it was beautiful to see Messias also singing in Shona. The one thing Winky D must have learnt from the whole should how to let music flow without the oft-used one drops in dancehall music. He laced his lyrics nicely on Desculpa and owned the song much as Messias did. Such brilliance and vigor has to be seen at his live performance going forward. Early Life

Sandra Gazi was born in Chitungwiza, Harare, Zimbabwe in 1991. As a child, she attended Shingai Primary School and Zengeza 4 High School. During her teen years, she would work part time jobs as a hairdresser in saloons and at her grandmother’s where she grew up. At the age of fifteen, she began studying music with many other artists in the informal studio classes established in the older artist’s bedrooms and performing with local sound systems . She went on to study formerly with at music cross roads where she did short courses in music composition and performance.  Lady Squanda positioned herself as the leading Zimbabwean Dancehall female artist of the generation that emerged in the wake of the influence of Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae in Zimbabwe. She rose to become a respected female chanteri n the industry, subsequently refining her own image and unique brand .Squanda's work can be found in myriad of public and private collections both in the locally and abroad, and has been seen in numerous websites throughout the internet. She currently stages live performances in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the UK.

Career

2009 Cracker

In 2009, Sandra took the name "Lady Squanda" after the famous Jamaican singer Lady Saw, who inspired her music. Her performances brought her to the attention of record producers and she recorded her first single for producer Tony Fresh, the single was received significantly but did get radio airplay. The single became a hit and she topped the Zimbabwean ghetto streets.

2010 Grandmother

In 2010, Squanda released her second single Grandma. The single became known for its conscious and educative lyrics . The single also became a hit and it also received significant airplay on numerous national radio stations and got her on the media spotlight. The single topped the local charts. After her music success on Zimbabwean radios, she began recording her first studio album.

Style

Lady Squanda became known for her thought provoking lyrical contentaim at his male rivals in the music industry and her male like(horse voice). The style also prompted her to record a single titled"Cracker"; a song in which she defines 'the impact of drugs on the youths' in many ways. It summed up the negative effects of drug abuse in reggae and dancehall  music.She also became known for her "conscious" lyrics. She recorded "GrandMother"; thanking her grandmother for raising her and educating the on respecting and appreciating their parents and guardians.
